Our people - Therapeutic & Professional Partners

Working
together to create lasting change for children and young people.

Our Integrated Support Network

At Kalo Living, we know that no single professional can meet every need a child brings. Healing happens through collaboration between carers, clinicians, educators, and families all working with one shared goal: to help every child feel safe, understood, and hopeful about their future.
That’s why we’ve built a network of trusted professionals across Torbay and the wider South West. Our partners bring clinical expertise, specialist insight, and therapeutic interventions that complement our trauma-informed care model. This multi-disciplinary approach ensures that children receive whole-person support addressing not just behaviour, but the emotions, experiences, and systems that shape it.

Our Therapeutic Model

All Kalo Living homes operate within a trauma-informed therapeutic framework.
This means that care, therapy, and education are not delivered in isolation they are woven together throughout daily life.
Our model integrates:
  • Clinical consultation with our management team and care staff.
  • Individual therapy to help children explore emotions safely.
  • Creative and sensory interventions to promote expression and regulation.
  • Reflective practice for staff, ensuring consistency and emotional availability.
  • Education and life-skills integration, building confidence and independence.
By embedding therapeutic thinking into every routine, conversation, and decision, we create homes that act as living therapeutic environments not just places of residence.

Reflective Practice and Clinical Supervision

Kalo Living staff participate in regular reflective practice sessions with our therapeutic partners. These sessions allow teams to explore emotional responses, review complex cases, and share learning in a safe, supportive space.
This reflective model ensures:
  • Emotional resilience among staff.
  • Consistency and empathy in care delivery.
  • Alignment between therapeutic goals and daily routines.
  • Continual professional growth and self-awareness.
Our belief is simple, children can only feel safe if the adults around them are grounded, supported, and reflective.

Collaboration in Action

Therapy at Kalo Living isn’t confined to a schedule. It happens in conversations, cooking, play, and quiet moments wherever children feel safe enough to engage.
Our professionals work directly with our care team to:
  • Identify trauma triggers and emotional needs.
  • Co-create regulation strategies and support plans.
  • Provide real time feedback and coaching during debriefs.
  • Develop tools for life, not dependency on services.
This partnership ensures that therapeutic thinking lives in the culture of each home not just in reports or external sessions.

Professional Standards

All professionals working with Kalo Living are:
  • Fully qualified and registered with their respective professional bodies (e.g. HCPC, BACP, UKCP).
  • Enhanced DBS checked and verified in line with safer recruitment standards.

A Holistic Vision for Care

Our goal is not simply to provide therapy within a home it’s to create therapeutic homes. That means every child receives support that touches all parts of their development: emotional, educational, physical, and social.
By combining professional insight with compassionate care, we help children:
  • Build trust and attachment.
  • Develop emotional regulation.
  • Re-engage in education and life skills.
